Basecamp Research unveiled the Trillion Gene Atlas initiative in partnership with Anthropic, Ultima Genomics, and PacBio, aiming to expand evolutionary sequence diversity by roughly 100‑fold to fuel AI-driven drug design. The program will generate massive environmental and host-associated genomic datasets using Ultima and PacBio sequencing and NVIDIA Parabricks for assembly, while Anthropic supplies large‑language model reasoning for biological interpretation. Basecamp says the project will supply training data for its EDEN foundation models and accelerate biologically guided generative design of therapeutics. The initiative is explicitly positioned to broaden AI training inputs beyond existing public repositories, enabling foundation models to learn from far greater genetic diversity and rare evolutionary solutions.
