Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals reported positive top-line Phase III results for plozasiran (Redemplo) in severe hypertriglyceridemia (sHTG), a readout that follows its existing rare-disease approval in familial chylomicronemia syndrome. The company said the therapy met primary and all prespecified secondary endpoints in two late-stage trials. In the studies, plozasiran cut median triglyceride levels by about 79% and 81% after one year versus roughly 27% in placebo. Arrowhead also reported a pooled analysis showing an approximately 78% reduction in acute pancreatitis events versus control arms, with continued favorable safety and tolerability. Arrowhead plans to seek a supplemental NDA with the U.S. FDA before year-end to expand the label into sHTG, targeting a broader patient base and intensifying competition with other RNA-targeting lipid-lowering approaches.
