ARPA-H announced up to $125 million in awards under its GIVE program to build a domestic, automated network capable of producing individualized on-demand RNA-based genetic medicines at low cost. The plan includes development of automated manufacturing platforms plus quality control systems designed for production and testing at or near point of care. Four teams will build core automation hardware and end-to-end production architectures, ranging from single-use fluidics chips to cartridge-based DNA/RNA workflows and continuous-flow systems. A separate effort led by the University of Utah will oversee a same-day testing platform aimed at complete lot-release quality control. If executed at scale, the initiative targets one of the core bottlenecks in personalized genetic medicine—turning bespoke manufacturing into a repeatable system with integrated analytics and release testing.
