Takara Bio and Resistomap expanded a partnership to develop high-throughput antimicrobial resistance surveillance products using environmental samples. The companies combined Takara Bio’s SmartChip ND Real Time PCR system with Resistomap’s environmental intelligence software to enable large-scale, gene-level AMR profiling. The SmartChip Biosecurity Platform is described as capable of running thousands of data points per run on a roughly three-hour workflow, then translating results into cloud-based reporting views that support longitudinal and location comparisons. The platform includes validated, predesigned SmartChip assays and region-targeted kits. For public health and biotech surveillance teams, the move strengthens the bridge between scalable wet-lab qPCR throughput and actionable interpretation pipelines for AMR monitoring from complex environments.
