Ginkgo Datapoints and Apheris launched a new Antibody Developability Consortium designed to improve earlier prediction of manufacturability and developability risks. The collaboration aims to build a standardized dataset by pooling proprietary antibody sequencing contributed by participating companies. The founding members include AbbVie, argenx, Lundbeck, and Takeda, and the consortium targets a total dataset size of 10,000 antibodies. Sponsors are expected to benefit from earlier filtering of candidates that may fail during manufacturing, formulation, or scale-up—addressing a known failure mode in antibody discovery pipelines. Operationally, the consortium emphasizes federated infrastructure to keep proprietary sequence information private while enabling machine-learning-ready data development.
