Bio-Techne and Refeyn launched an integrated characterization workflow for bispecific antibodies and biosimilars, combining charge/variant separation with single-molecule aggregation and size readouts. The approach pairs Bio-Techne’s MauriceFlex imaged capillary isoelectric focusing (icIEF) with Refeyn’s TwoMP mass photometry platform. The workflow links charge heterogeneity to molecular weight and aggregation in about four hours, using nanogram-level samples and providing single-molecule resolution for size distribution and aggregation within each charge-resolved fraction. The companies said the aim is to reduce the need for multiple orthogonal tests during development. Bispecifics are a fast-growing segment, but they are also structurally complex, making early manufacturing risk harder to quantify; this workflow targets faster, deeper variant characterization to support process development decisions.
