Fosun Pharma has paid $60 million upfront to secure an exclusive global option on AR1001, an oral Alzheimer’s candidate from South Korea’s AriBio. The agreement gives Fosun development, registration, manufacturing and commercialization rights outside China and specified territories across global markets, with a decision window tied to Phase III topline data. AR1001 (also known as mirodenafil) is being studied in a Phase III trial (NCT05531526) for early Alzheimer’s disease. Under the option-plus-license structure, the initial $60 million is non-refundable, with a further $80 million upfront due if Fosun exercises the option within 90 days after receiving complete Phase III topline data. AriBio framed the partnership as a path toward global access for a disease with substantial unmet need, while Fosun positioned the move as extending its footprint in high-cost neurodegenerative development. The deal structure underscores how large pharma continues to use option agreements to manage late-stage risk while securing future global rights.
