Alamar Biosciences and Nightingale Health initiated a UK Biobank study to test whether an ultrasensitive proteomics platform can detect blood protein signals linked to neurodegeneration years before symptom onset. The UK Biobank Proteomics for Risk Identification and Signatures of brain health in Midlife (UKB-PRISM) project will measure hundreds of circulating proteins across 80,000 UK Biobank samples using Nightingale’s NULISA platform, which pairs antibody capture with DNA oligonucleotide reporters read out by next-generation sequencing. The study is funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Alzheimer’s Research UK, and LifeArc, with completion targeted by the end of 2027. Partners say the dataset is meant to support biomarker evaluation and inform therapeutic research planning.
