AI foundation modeling connects tumor mutations to therapy response

Researchers led by Trey Ideker at the University of California San Diego introduced MutationProjector, an AI foundation model designed to interpret tumor mutational landscapes and predict responses to therapies. The work, published in Cancer Discovery, trained on data from more than 30,000 tumors across 10 solid cancer types using Project GENIE and The Cancer Genome Atlas, aiming to capture gene co-dependencies rather than single-mutation effects.
