Elix and the University of Vienna entered a joint research agreement to accelerate drug discovery using AI. The collaboration centers on Elix’s integrated AI discovery platform and the Orts Lab’s NMR-led structural and dynamics expertise, including methods aimed at validating small-molecule binding modes. The partnership positions Elix to support medicinal chemistry workflows such as ligand-based and structure-based design, while Vienna contributes high-resolution biomolecular structure characterization to refine targeting decisions for hard-to-drug biology. The agreement also connects to formulation and translational constraints via involvement of INPHARMA network capabilities for formulation and binding-mode validation. For the sector, the move is another sign that drug discovery AI is increasingly being coupled with wet-lab structural checks rather than treated as a stand-alone design engine.
