Bristol Myers Squibb said it is expanding its partnership with Nvidia to build what it calls the “most powerful” AI supercomputer infrastructure in biopharma. The expanded deployment centers on Nvidia DGX SuperPOD systems and adds energy-efficient compute capacity to accelerate discovery and development workflows. BMS said it has already shortened the overall drug discovery cycle by about 20% to 30% using AI tools. The company framed the investment as “hybrid intelligence,” combining AI co-scientists with human judgment to increase the probability of advancing the right programs. The Nvidia expansion is positioned as part of a broader AI strategy that BMS has also pursued through other technology partners, including Anthropic and Microsoft. As more large biopharmas build in-house or single-owner compute stacks, the infrastructure race is shifting from pilots to scalable operations.
