Mithrl raised a $20 million Series A led by Obvious Ventures to expand deployment of its “biomedical world model” across biopharma R&D workflows. The company said its platform aims to move teams from idea to IND faster by combining curated validated biology with agentic AI for hypothesis and task routing. Mithrl is building a second-generation platform (“Mithrl-1”) and launching an early access program ahead of a Sept. 21 release. The company cited benchmark analysis showing its infrastructure used 45% fewer tokens than standard workflows using similar frontier models without customization. The funding supports development of model routing, token optimization and content orchestration, with an emphasis on using AI agents that reason over validated biology rather than searching broader unverified pools. For biotechs, the round adds capacity to a growing category of AI tools focused on translating biology into actionable, auditable development workflows rather than purely generating text outputs.
