The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention launched AGARI (Africa Genome Archiving for Response and Insight), a continent‑wide pathogen genomic data sharing platform developed with the African Society for Laboratory Medicine and the Africa Pathogen Genomics Initiative. AGARI centralizes sequencing archives and analytics while preserving national data sovereignty, enabling real‑time detection of mpox, cholera, Ebola, Marburg and antimicrobial resistance threats. Africa CDC highlighted growth from 7 sequencing‑capable countries in 2019 to 46 today, positioning AGARI as an operational hub to accelerate public‑health decision making across member states.
