An extensive study of over 300,000 Swedish births from 2010 to 2022 assessed neonatal outcomes relative to maternal age beyond 35. Findings show that mothers aged 45+ face notably increased risks including nearly doubled stillbirth rates and elevated premature delivery and neonatal hypoglycemia incidence. Although absolute event rates remain low, the age-related gradient underscores the complexity of late-age pregnancies, highlighting the need for focused medical monitoring and counseling of older expectant mothers to address these risks effectively.
