Fox Foundation’s PPMI cohort, and deposited the resulting dataset into PPMI’s repository. The effort expands access to high-throughput, protein-level measurements intended to support Parkinson’s biomarker development and patient subtype characterization. The platform uses Olink’s proximity extension assay (PEA) approach, enabling affinity-based protein quantification at scale. Thermo positioned the resource as a way to accelerate work connecting proteomic signals to disease progression, heterogeneity, and therapeutic response. PPMI’s breadth—longitudinal clinical, genetic, imaging, and molecular data—means this proteomics layer can be used to test whether protein trajectories better define subgroups than symptoms alone. For biomarker teams, the main value is standardization and scale across a broadly characterized population. The next phase is uptake by researchers worldwide for analyses that link proteomic patterns to progression markers and evaluate candidate targets for intervention studies.
