Oricell advanced its GPC3-directed cellular therapy program by moving its first pivotal-stage CAR T for liver cancer into a confirmatory registration Phase II trial. The therapy, Ori-C101, targets GPC3-positive advanced hepatocellular carcinoma, positioning it as the first GPC3 immune cell therapy and the first CAR T for liver cancer to reach that stage. The milestone matters for how CAR T developers differentiate on antigen choice, safety management, and manufacturing feasibility for solid tumors—areas where efficacy signals have historically been harder to sustain. If confirmatory data support efficacy and tolerability, Ori-C101 could become a key reference point for CAR T in hepatocellular carcinoma and intensify competition in the GPC3-directed immunotherapy space.
