PTC Therapeutics won a Sangamo auction for the ST-920 gene therapy program, with the deal structure including $111 million in upfront payments and up to $100 million in regulatory milestone triggers. The transaction followed Sangamo’s bankruptcy process and included competitive bidding that PTC concluded over Astellas and TerSera Therapeutics. PTC said the acquisition leverages its rare disease commercial infrastructure to accelerate revenue generation without requiring a new development or commercial buildout. ST-920, also known as isaralgagene civaparvovec, is an AAV gene therapy intended to restore alpha-galactosidase A production for Fabry disease. The therapy aims to reduce globotriaosylceramide accumulation and subsequent organ damage. Sangamo had already submitted nonclinical and clinical modules for a rolling biologics license application under an agreed accelerated approval pathway with the FDA, positioning the asset for near-term regulatory progression as PTC integrates it into its portfolio.
