AbbVie agreed to acquire Apogee Therapeutics for about $10.9 billion, adding late-stage IL-13 candidate zumilokibart (APG777) to its immunology pipeline. The deal values Apogee at $135.11 per share and is structured to extend AbbVie’s inflammatory disease franchise. Apogee’s lead program is in Phase 2 for atopic dermatitis (APEX study), where the company reported significant skin clearance at 16 weeks and plans Phase 3 development for the mid-dose regimen. The acquisition also brings an asthma program (APG273) built on combining zumilokibart with APG333. AbbVie framed the transaction as reinforcing its portfolio ahead of impending pressure on Humira, and positioned the assets as differentiated monoclonal therapy opportunities potentially deliverable at longer dosing intervals.
