The 1000 Genomes Project Long-Read Sequencing Consortium, led by University of Washington researchers, has expanded its dataset by adding Pacific Biosciences (PacBio) long-read sequencing alongside Oxford Nanopore Technologies data. This multi-institutional effort aims to generate near-complete genomic and transcriptomic data across more than 1,000 diverse human samples, enabling the detection of structural variants and isoform diversity that were not accessible before. PacBio's Kinnex RNA kit and Revio platform are being employed for full-length isoform RNA sequencing to deepen understanding of human genetic variation.
